How long have you been in business?
I have been a sole practitioner since January of 1995. I became licensed in 1990.
What is your primary product or service?
I specialize in site design and housing design for both subdivision work and multifamily work. I also have done several mixed use developments that combine residential with commercial uses. In addition having been a Planning Commissioner and a City Council member, and Mayor, I understand the entitlement process very well. I continue to do work in Northern California even though I have relocated to Bend Oregon. It is a short flight from Bend to Santa Rosa and can be there when needed. Currently I am working on projects in Sonoma County California and Deschutes County Oregon.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I first entered college as an art major and received a BFA and MFA from Boston University specializing in oil painting. I had wanted to be an architect since I was a young girl. I finally made the switch mid career and attended UCLA earning a Master of Architecture degree in 1986.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
Because of my background on a Planning Commission and City Council and having worked on a General Plan update, as well as other ordinances, I understand the entitlement process extremely well. So in addition to working with Civil Engineers on laying out a lot and street pattern, as well as designing the homes, I present the projects before Design Review Boards, Commissions and City Councils or Boards of Supervisors. As a painter, I have a very refined eye for color, form and detail that helps get those 100% approvals.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
I have an office in Sebastopol California and Bend Oregon. I do not plan on expanding further.
Provide detailed directions to your location
My Sebastopol office is easy to find at 524 South Main Street near the intersection with Walker. In Bend Oregon my office is in the Larkspur District at 179 SE Rice Way off Cessna.
What type of payments do you accept?
I accept checks, cash or direct deposits.
Which areas do you service?
I have designed subdivisions and multifamily developments throughout the North Bay from Ukiah to Petaluma, Sebastopol to Benicia. Most of my work, however, is in the Santa Rosa or Sebastopol area. Currently I am doing projects in Healdsburg and Cloverdale California and in Sisters Oregon.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
I am a sole practitioner and run the company. I do qualify as a Woman Owned Business if this is of importance. I work with two contract CAD drafters and other consultants on a contract basis.
What are your hours of operation?
Generally I am available between 9am and 6pm Monday through Friday. I am available to meet after hours or on the weekends if necessary to meet a clients busy schedule.
What is the best compliment anyone can give you?
That I exceed my clients expectations for the best possible design.
What is your favorite quote or Bible verse?
The golden rule: Treat others as you would have them treat you.
